Home automation has been a passion of mine since the days of X10. My first home automation system in 2006 was about 70% reliable and about 20% usable. The industry has been revolutionized by protocols like Z-Wave or Zigbee and with big names like Samsung pushing forward easy to consume Home Automation. Today I run Home Assistant, running on #VMware as a VM. A platform I have hated and loved as I worked through some of the pains of a true do-it-yourself platform. I finally have one dashboard that can do everything from view all my cameras, tell me how much gas I have left in our car, close the garage doors, turn on the sprinklers, tell me my activity level for the day as well as report on my last blood pressure and weight reading. #HomeAutomation #homeassistant
